Most people believe that honesty, as a traditional virtue, should be valued. The truth is obvious. Firstly, being honest helps a person win the respect of others. Secondly, being honest can make people get along well with each other and promote the development of our society.

The examples are just as follows. For one thing, a dishonest seller who sells fake commodities will lose all his customers sooner or later. In that case, the seller is most likely to pay a high price for his dishonesty. For another, some students cheat in the exams in order to get high scores, which does great harm to themselves.

Considering all these things, I think being honest benefit both ourselves and other people. In a word, it pays to be honest in the long run.
